About an unusual passion for the everyday.
burgbad's roots lie in Germany's Sauerland region. The company history began in 1946 amongst destroyed buildings – with "hand-crafted" wooden building block sets actually designed to be toys for children. However, they proved popular with young and old as they came to symbolise the rebuilding of the country and the dream of a better future.
Dieter Ruddies, the company's founder, had an instinct for what things people might find useful in everyday life, from sewing boxes to coffee grinders or pasting tables. He also realised much earlier than many others how important bathroom furniture would one day become.
At home in bathrooms since 1966.
Under the motto "The bathroom of the future will be furnished", Dieter Ruddies dared to turn to making bathroom furniture at a time when beautiful and functional bathroom furniture was on very few people's minds.
This was the starting point for an exceptional success story. Right from the start, it was about considering the everyday as well as perfect functionality; it was about a passion for outstanding quality and has also been about comprehensive sustainability for many years.
burgbad is the first zero carbon bathroom furniture manufacturer, for example. We have also switched our production facilities in Schmallenberg, Greding and Lauterbach fully to "Furniture made in Germany" since 2020, as we believe that reliable and transparent supply chains are another important aspect of sustainability.

Neuer Hygienestandard für Waschtische ohne Überlaufloch. Der von burgbad entwickelte neuartige Siphon burgbad cleanFlow ist optimale Lösung für einen geruchsarmen und hygienischen Abfluss des Wassers.

Gewinner des Marketingpreis Südwestfalen – für die kontinuierliche und effektive Marketingstrategie des Unternehmens, mit der neue Angebotsformen wie Customizing, ganzheitliche Raumkonzepte oder Labels wie der „Blaue Engel“ etabliert werden.
Klimaneutral
burgbad wird weltweit erster klimaneutraler Badmöbelhersteller nach DGM-Kriterien. Im selben Jahr schlossen wir uns als erster Badmöbelhersteller dem „Klimapakt für die Möbelindustrie“ der DGM an.

Eine starke Marke
Ein Name. Eine Marke. Im Jahr 2009 werden die vier Einzelmarken unter dem Dach der neu geschaffenen Marke burgbad zusammengeführt – klar, wiedererkennbar und vertrauenswürdig.
Auf Wachstumskurs
Burg Möbel erwirbt die Kama Bad GmbH, die Firmen Schock, Miral und die Société Equipement Postforme (S.E.P.) in Frankreich (heute burgbad France).

Der Schritt ins Bad
Unter dem Firmennamen Burg wagt das Unternehmen den Sprung ins Badezimmer. Und das zu einer Zeit, als noch kaum jemand an Möbel fürs Bad denkt. Dieter Ruddies ist überzeugt: „Das Bad der Zukunft ist möbliert.“
Ein neuer Anfang
1946 gründet Dieter Ruddies in Bad Fredeburg eine kleine Holzwerkstatt, eine Manufaktur für Haushalts-Gebrauchsgegenstände und Kleinmöbel aus Holz. Ein Anfang voller Zuversicht und Handwerkskunst.

2008
burgbad becomes a 100% subsidiary of Turkish multinational Eczacibasi Holding.
2005
Room Concept rc40: Launch of customised room concepts; rc40 permits variable furnishing solutions for bathrooms and similar spaces.
1990s
In the early 1990s, Burg Möbel acquires Kama Bad GmbH in Greding-Grafenberg and the production facilities in Nogent-le-Roi (today: burgbad France); they are joined by the company Schock (mirror cabinets) and the cast mineral manufacturer Miral. in the late 1990s.
1966
burgbad starts to produce bathroom furniture, at the time still under the company name Burg Ideal Bad. One of its first clients was the mail order company Quelle in Fürth.
1946
Dieter Ruddies sets up a small factory for the manufacture of wooden everyday items(including wooden building block sets, coffee grinders, sewing boxes and pasting tables) in the spa town of Bad Fredeburg.
